How to split a PDF online

  1. Click Choose File or drag your PDF into the upload area.
  2. Select a split mode: enter a custom page range (e.g. 1-5, 8, 11-15), split every N pages, or extract a single page number.
  3. Click Split PDF and wait a moment while pages are divided in your browser.
  4. Download the result — a single PDF if your range produces one file, or a ZIP archive containing all output files.

Understanding the three split modes

VoxScan offers three distinct ways to divide a PDF. Custom page range gives you full control: type any combination of pages and ranges (1-5, 8, 11-15) and the tool produces one output file per range segment. Split every N pages divides the document into equal-sized chunks — useful for a 120-page report you need to break into 30-page sections. Single page extract pulls one page out as a standalone PDF, which is handy when a document contains one page you need to share or print separately. All three modes keep every other page of the document intact in their respective output files, so nothing is silently discarded.

When to use a PDF splitter

Common situations where splitting is the right move: a scanner that produces one giant PDF from a multi-document batch, and you need to separate each form into its own file; a lengthy contract where only the signature page needs to go to a counterparty; a textbook or manual that exceeds email attachment limits and must be sent in chunks; a collection of monthly invoices combined into a single year-end PDF that your accounting software requires as individual files. Any time the structure you need is already embedded in the page order of one document, splitting is faster than rearranging pages manually.

Frequently asked questions

What output files do I get, and are they zipped?

When you split into two or more files, VoxScan packages them into a single ZIP archive so you get one download. If your split produces only one file — for example, extracting pages 3–7 as a single range — the tool downloads that PDF directly without zipping.

What is the difference between splitting and extracting pages?

Splitting divides the whole document: every page ends up in one of the output files and nothing is left out. Extracting pages pulls a specific subset into a new PDF while leaving the original untouched. Use Split PDF when you want to break a document apart; use Extract Pages when you only need a portion of it.

Does splitting a PDF reduce its quality?

No. VoxScan copies pages from the original document without re-encoding text, images, or fonts. The output files are byte-for-byte identical to the corresponding pages in the source, so quality is fully preserved.

Are my files sent to a server when I use this tool?

No. The entire split operation runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your PDF is never uploaded, streamed, or transmitted anywhere. Nothing leaves your device at any point during or after processing.
