Add Stamp to PDF Free Online
Add a professional stamp to your PDF: Approved, Rejected, Draft, or Confidential. Choose position and target pages.
How to add a stamp to a PDF online
- Open the tool and drop your PDF onto the upload zone, or click Choose File to select it from your device.
- Pick a preset stamp — Approved, Rejected, Draft, or Confidential — or enter custom text in the text field, or upload an image file to use as the stamp graphic.
- Choose the target pages (all pages, first page only, or a specific page number) and set the position (top-left, top-right, center, bottom-left, bottom-right).
- Click Add Stamp. The stamp is applied entirely in your browser with no file upload.
- Download the stamped PDF.
Preset stamps, custom text, and image stamps
The tool ships with four color-coded presets that cover the most common review states: Approved renders in green, Rejected in red, Draft in amber, and Confidential in purple. Each is rendered as a bold, bordered label — the same visual language as a physical rubber stamp. If none of the presets fit, the custom text field accepts any string up to a reasonable length, so labels like REVIEWED, FOR REVIEW, RECEIVED, or a specific date work without modification. For organizations that use a graphic mark — a company seal, a certification badge, or a signature stamp — the image upload option places a PNG or JPG at the chosen position instead. A PNG with a transparent background produces the cleanest result because it lets the page content show through around the stamp shape. The position control places the stamp at any of five anchor points: the four corners or the center. The page control determines whether the stamp goes on every page, just the first, or one page you specify by number. A stamp differs from a watermark in scope: a stamp is a discrete mark at one position, while a watermark tiles or stretches across the entire page background. Both tools are available on VoxScan; which one you reach for depends on whether you want a positioned badge or a full-page overlay.
When to use a stamp on a PDF
Status stamps are most useful in document review workflows. Marking a contract or report APPROVED on the signature page gives the recipient an immediate visual confirmation without requiring them to open an email thread. Stamping working copies as DRAFT prevents confusion when multiple versions circulate. A CONFIDENTIAL stamp on the cover page or every page sets handling expectations before the reader reaches the body content. Image stamps work for certification: placing a quality-assurance seal or a notary emblem on the relevant page is faster than printing, signing, and re-scanning. A RECEIVED stamp with a date is common in accounts-payable and legal intake workflows where the arrival date needs to be visible in the document itself.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use a custom text stamp instead of a preset?
Yes. In addition to the four presets (Approved, Rejected, Draft, Confidential), there is a custom text field where you can type any label — such as REVIEWED, RECEIVED, FOR INTERNAL USE, or a date string. The stamp renders in the same bold style as the presets.
- Can I place the stamp on only one page instead of all pages?
Yes. The page target control lets you apply the stamp to all pages, only the first page, or a specific page number you enter. If you need different stamps on different pages, run the tool once per group of pages and merge the results.
- What is the difference between a stamp and a watermark?
A stamp is a discrete mark placed at one position on a page — like pressing a rubber stamp onto paper. It occupies a defined area, typically a corner or center, and carries a specific message. A watermark repeats across the entire page as a background element, usually semi-transparent and diagonal. Use a stamp for status marks tied to a specific point on the document; use a watermark when you want every visible area of every page to carry the label.
- Can I upload a logo or image as the stamp?
Yes. The tool accepts an image file in addition to text. Upload a PNG or JPG — ideally with a transparent background — and it is placed at the chosen position. This works for company seals, certification marks, or any graphic that functions as a discrete approval symbol.
- Does my PDF get sent to a server when I use this tool?
No. All processing runs locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file is never transmitted anywhere — it stays on your device throughout. This applies regardless of how sensitive or large the document is.
